Our Privacy Commitment

Kliper is built on a simple principle: your recordings belong to you. We don't track you, we don't store your videos, and we don't sell your data. This policy explains exactly what information we do and don't collect.

1. Information We Don't Collect

Unlike most software companies, we take a privacy-first approach. Here's what we do not collect:

  • Your recordings: All videos are stored locally on your device. We never have access to your screen recordings.
  • Personal information: We don't require accounts, emails, or any personal identification to use Kliper.
  • Usage tracking: We don't track how you use the app, what you record, or when you record.
  • Analytics data: No cookies, no pixels, no third-party analytics services.
  • Device information: We don't collect device IDs, IP addresses, or system specifications.

2. Information We May Collect (Optional)

The only data we collect is when you explicitly choose to interact with our services:

2.1 Pro Features

If you choose to purchase and use Pro upload features:

  • Email address: Only if you create a Pro account
  • Payment information: Processed securely through our payment provider for one-time purchase, we never store your credit card details
  • Upload metadata: Basic information about files you choose to upload to YouTube or Google Drive (file size, upload time)

2.2 Support Communications

If you contact us at contact@usekliper.com:

  • We'll store your email and message content to respond to your inquiry
  • Any information you voluntarily provide to help us troubleshoot issues
  • This information is deleted after your issue is resolved unless you request otherwise

3. How Your Data is Stored

3.1 Local Storage

All recordings are stored locally on your device in a folder you control. You can:

  • Access your recordings directly through your file system
  • Move, copy, or delete recordings at any time
  • Choose your own backup and storage solutions
  • Encrypt your recordings using your operating system's encryption tools

3.2 Upload Options (Pro Only)

If you choose to upload recordings using Pro features:

  • YouTube: Videos are uploaded directly to your YouTube account under your control
  • Google Drive: Files are stored in your personal Google Drive account
  • We act only as a facilitator - these services have their own privacy policies
  • You can revoke Kliper's access to these services at any time
  • No proprietary cloud storage - you control where your files go

4. Third-Party Services

Kliper integrates with third-party services only when you explicitly choose to use them:

We carefully select partners who respect user privacy, but we encourage you to review their policies.

5. Google API Services - Data Access and Usage

Kliper Pro uses Google API Services to enable optional upload features. This section provides detailed information about how we access, use, store, and share Google user data in compliance with the Google API Services User Data Policy.

5.1 Data Accessed from Google Services

When you choose to connect your Google account to Kliper Pro, we request access to the following specific types of Google user data:

  • YouTube Data API:
    • Basic profile information (name, email, profile picture) - to identify your YouTube channel
    • YouTube channel information - to display your channel name and verify upload permissions
    • Video upload permissions - to upload videos you choose to your YouTube channel
    • Video metadata permissions - to set title, description, privacy settings, and tags for uploaded videos
  • Google Drive API:
    • Basic profile information (name, email) - to identify your Google Drive account
    • File upload permissions - to upload video files you choose to your Google Drive
    • File metadata permissions - to set file names and organize uploaded files

Important: We only access this data when you explicitly authorize Kliper to connect to your Google account. You can revoke this access at any time through your Google Account Permissions page.

5.2 How We Use Google User Data

Kliper uses Google user data exclusively for the following purposes:

  • Video Uploads to YouTube: When you choose to upload a video recording to YouTube, we use the YouTube Data API to:
    • Upload the video file from your local device directly to your YouTube channel
    • Set video metadata (title, description, privacy settings, tags) as you specify
    • Retrieve the video URL after successful upload to provide you with a shareable link
  • File Uploads to Google Drive: When you choose to upload a video to Google Drive, we use the Google Drive API to:
    • Upload the video file from your local device directly to your Google Drive
    • Set file name and metadata as you specify
    • Retrieve the file URL or shareable link after successful upload
  • Authentication and Authorization: We use your basic profile information solely to:
    • Display your account name in the Kliper interface
    • Verify that you have the necessary permissions to upload content
    • Maintain your authenticated session within the app

We do not:

  • Access, read, or download any existing files from your Google Drive
  • Access, read, modify, or delete any existing videos on your YouTube channel
  • Access your Google contacts, calendar, or any other Google services
  • Use your Google data for advertising, analytics, or any purpose other than the upload functionality you explicitly request
  • Train AI models or perform any automated processing on your Google data

5.3 Data Sharing with Third Parties

We do not share your Google user data with any third parties. Specifically:

  • No third-party sharing: Your Google account information, authentication tokens, and any data accessed through Google APIs remain exclusively between you, Kliper, and Google's services
  • No data brokers: We do not sell, rent, or trade your Google user data to data brokers or advertisers
  • No analytics services: We do not send your Google user data to third-party analytics or tracking services
  • Direct uploads only: When you upload content, it goes directly from your device to Google's servers (YouTube or Google Drive) - we act only as a facilitator

The only "sharing" that occurs is when you explicitly choose to upload your video to YouTube or Google Drive, which is the intended purpose of the feature. In this case, the video content is transferred directly to your own Google account.

5.4 Data Storage and Protection

We implement the following practices to securely store and protect Google user data:

  • Local storage only: Your Google authentication tokens are stored locally on your device using secure, encrypted storage mechanisms provided by your operating system
  • No server storage: We do not store your Google authentication tokens, access tokens, or refresh tokens on our servers
  • Encryption in transit: All communication with Google APIs uses industry-standard TLS/SSL encryption
  • Encryption at rest: Authentication tokens stored on your device are encrypted using your operating system's secure credential storage (Keychain on macOS, Credential Manager on Windows)
  • Minimal data retention: We only retain the minimum information necessary to maintain your authenticated session (typically just an access token and refresh token)
  • No video storage: Videos you upload to YouTube or Google Drive are never stored on our servers - they transfer directly from your device to Google's services
  • Secure API calls: All API requests to Google services are authenticated using OAuth 2.0 and include your authorization tokens

5.5 Data Retention and Deletion

We provide clear and accessible methods for you to control your Google user data:

  • Retention period: We retain your Google authentication tokens only as long as you remain connected to your Google account within Kliper. Once you disconnect, all tokens are immediately deleted from your device
  • How to disconnect: You can disconnect your Google account at any time by:
    • Opening Kliper Settings
    • Navigating to the "Accounts" or "Integrations" section
    • Clicking "Disconnect" next to YouTube or Google Drive
    • This immediately deletes all stored authentication tokens from your device
  • Revoke access through Google: You can also revoke Kliper's access to your Google account at any time by visiting Google Account Permissions and removing Kliper from the list of connected apps
  • Data deletion request: If you want to ensure all data is deleted, you can:
    • Disconnect your Google account within Kliper (as described above)
    • Revoke access through your Google Account settings
    • Uninstall the Kliper application
    • Contact us at contact@usekliper.com to confirm deletion (though no server-side data exists to delete)
  • Uploaded content: Videos you've uploaded to YouTube or Google Drive remain in your Google account and are subject to Google's retention policies. You can delete them directly from YouTube or Google Drive at any time
  • No data recovery: Once you disconnect or revoke access, we cannot recover your authentication tokens or any associated data

5.6 Limited Use Disclosure

Kliper's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. Specifically:

  • We only use Google user data to provide and improve the upload features you explicitly request
  • We do not use Google user data for serving advertisements
  • We do not allow humans to read your Google user data unless:
    • You explicitly grant permission for troubleshooting purposes
    • It's necessary for security purposes (e.g., investigating abuse)
    • It's required to comply with applicable law
  • We do not transfer Google user data to third parties except as necessary to provide the upload functionality (i.e., uploading to your own Google account)

6. Data Security

We take security seriously:

  • No data breaches possible: Since we don't store your recordings, they can't be breached from our servers
  • Secure connections: Any communication with our servers (for Pro features) uses industry-standard encryption (TLS/SSL)
  • Minimal attack surface: By collecting minimal data, we reduce potential security risks
  • Regular updates: We regularly update Kliper to patch any security vulnerabilities

  • No vendor lock-in: You can stop using Kliper at any time without losing your recordings

8. Children's Privacy

Kliper doesn't collect personal information from anyone, including children under 13. Since we don't require accounts or collect user data, children can use the free version of Kliper safely. The Pro version requires users to be 18+ or have parental consent.

9. International Users

Kliper is available worldwide. Since all recordings are stored locally on your device, there is no cross-border data transfer. If you use Pro features, any optional data you provide may be processed on servers located in the United States or European Union.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy as we add new features. When we do:

  • We'll update the "Last Updated" date at the top of this page
  • For significant changes, we'll notify users through the app or our website
  • Your continued use of Kliper after changes constitutes acceptance
  • Previous versions will be archived and available upon request
